Hope Terrell
Hi everyone! I’m Hope, a researcher, counselor, reproductive justice advocate, and lifelong student of life.
I was introduced to Birth Manifesta after participating in Justice for Black Girls’ Black Girl Birth Work Program in the summer of 2022. As someone who knows I would not be who I am today without the love, support, and sacrifices of so many Black women, birth work felt like a natural and meaningful way for me to pour back into the community that has poured so much into me.
I’m a 2025 graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, TN, where I earned my degree in Biology. I’m currently taking an intentional pause before graduate school, using this time to intern, work, volunteer, and continue learning as I prepare to pursue a career in genetic counseling.
Outside of birth work, I currently work with children with autism spectrum disorder as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and volunteer as a crisis counselor for a domestic violence hotline. Each of these experiences has deepened my passion for advocacy, compassionate care, and supporting people through some of life’s most significant moments.
When I’m not working or volunteering, you can usually find me cooking, reading, or spending time with my two dogs, Phoenix and Aje.
One of my favorite parts of supporting birthing people is witnessing the transformation that happens throughout their journey—the moment they step into a version of themselves that may be stronger, more confident, and more empowered than they ever imagined.
